Peter Miller an original surfer of  The Point at Manu Bay visited the Raglan Museum on April 10th to check out the Raglan Surfing Exhibition. Peter contributed many of the early photos in the display.  Now living in Sydney he wanted to see how the exhibition looked and his verdict was it looks great.

Peter shared with Museum President Pat Day the story of how he first surfed The Point on 28th February 1960 he went to the Whaanga Coast first surfing at Whale Bay on his foam and fibreglass board. The waves weren’t great and he headed back towards Raglan. Coming round the corner he saw the waves of Manu Bay and decided to try them out.  Peter said that not knowing the area was called Manu Bay he named it The Point.
