Opening of Maori artefact exhibition featured on stuff.co.nz National news

151019TimesMergeThe opening of Raglan Museum’s Maori artefact exhibition on Saturday 19th was featured in the National news on stuff.co.nz. The article by journalist Elton Rikihana Smallman, covers how 2000 taonga from a single family collection, have gone on permanent display at the seaside museum to bring life back to some of Raglan’s earliest occupants. The Bird Family Collection was in private ownership until it was loaned to the museum in 2012.

The artefacts, which include wooden paddles, obsidian knife blades, pounamu tattooing chisels and bone fishhooks, opened to public display at Raglan Museum on Saturday 17th October.
