For many months, Raglan Museum has been working on cataloguing the Bird Family/ Ngati Tahinga Collection. And now this stage of the project is almost there. Heritage Consultant Lynette Williams has been working with the museum’s cataloguers. At first Lyn worked with the Roz Miles and now with Kaz Willoughby, assisted by Manaki Riki, from Ngati Tahinga.

Now the project moves onto next step of creating and then installing the exhibits.  The collection of precious taonga was moved in March 2012 from its home in Horea (Te Akau) to its new resting place – the Raglan & District Museum. The objects were collected by the Bird Family in the first half of the twentieth century and are on permanent loan to the Raglan Museum Society.
